"With the support given by Regenerate, various companies have shown an interest in the Snap on Tap joint product" Harry Michell, Broadland Design & Engineering (2008) Ltd

Category: New Product Development

Business Overview

Broadland Design & Engineering Ltd. has patents on a number of inventions, including a smooth flow pipe connection system. They are currently in discussions with a number of Middle East Gas & Oil companies over the possibility of licensing this connection system to them. The concept of joining pipes together with speed and low cost will be significant in various industries where pipe connections are required. The company approached Regenerate Pennine Lancashire for support while the companies undertook lengthy evaluations and a market opportunity analysis was undertaken to shape and explore exploitation potential.

Regenerate’s role

Regenerate’s Innovation and Technology Service identified a further six UK companies which would have use for this new technology, four of which expressed interest and arranged meetings with Broadland. Two of these companies are also in Pennine Lancashire.

Broadland have recognised that one of their largest potential target markets is those with no plumbing skills or tools who would like to replace a domestic tap above a basin or bath. Broadlands realised that there would be a high demand in the general public for these “quick fix” taps. Regenerate Pennine Lancashire has supported the cost of producing a trial batch for testing and evaluation by Methven, Worsley Group, Wicks, B&Q and Inno-Concepts Holland.
