Category: New Business Start Up

Business Overview:

Lenticulars was established by Jon Mitton, it provides innovative 3D photography using camera equipment invented and patented by Jon himself.  After graduating from John Moore’s University in 1990 and studying at the Royal College of Art, Jon managed an advertising agency before moving toIrelandto successfully run a business providing 3D materials for clients such as Jameson Whiskey and the Allianz Bank alongside appearing on the Irish version of Dragons Den.  But due to recent economic difficulties in Ireland Jon moved to establish Lenticulars, his new business venture making the most of his skills and previous technical experience.

Regenerate’s role:

Returning to the area after several years away posed problems for Jon and his business advisor helped Jon to re-establish  some of his contacts in the local area.  His business advisor also helped him to develop his business plan and highlighted further contacts in the local creative industry.  The enthusiastic support proved very useful in the early stages of developing the  business.  Jon is now looking to push the artwork production arm of his business, using the technology he has developed to make use of his artistic background.  In turn creating striking artistic pieces, some of which were taken on by the Howarth Gallery in Burnley and who now display them both in Burnley and Manchester.

Impact:

-          1 Job created

-          £40,000 (Including investment in Specialist Equipment)

Continued Support:

Jon is now looking to grow Lenticulars and develop new products.  Due to the sensitive nature of protecting the ownership of this product he is now benefitting from the Lancashire Innovation Network intellectual property advice.  Developing the online presence of his business is also something Jon is acutely aware off and he plans to attend the social media marketing workshops also delivered by the Lancashire Innovation network.  Jon is currently working his way through a teacher training qualification and hopes in future to pass on his knowledge of 3D photography to local students who have an interest creative photography and art.
