The Curry Stall is a family run business based on the new market, currently forming part of the new Blackburn mall extension in Blackburn Town Centre.  They specialise in fresh home made curries and light snacks either served hot on site or takeaway.

Hanif Mogra the owner of the business moved from the old 3 day market on Penny Street to the new Mall market site.  He contacted Regenerate in early 2011 for assistance in this transition to the new site. Business has been brisk since the move with the stall in prime position to help fill the new market food court with diners.

Regenerate’s Role

Regenerate assisted The Curry Stall with financial planning.  They were also successful in applying for grant support.  This gave them the stable foundation needed to commit to a three year lease with the Market.  The business was also advised to diversify and now caters for people with specific dietary needs.

With regards to the new location Hanif said “At the minute the market tends to be quieter earlier on in the week, the old 3 day market tradition obviously still exists, but this will change over time and we hope the beginning of the week will be as busy as our weekends”.

Continued Support

Hanif is now looking to grow his business and develop further outlets for his fresh produce.  He is currently in negotiations with a national cash and carry chain to trial his produce nationwide.  Due to the logistical difficulties of such a project, The Curry Stall is now looking to re-invest and hopefully secure additional funding to purchase equipment and make his dream a reality.
