Business Overview

The Original Sleep Company Ltd is a spin off business working in partnership with a well established Burnley based textile products manufacturer. The new business specialises in the distribution of filled bed linen e.g., duvets, pillows, mattress topers etc.

The management team recognised that competition in the manufacturing market has created downward pressure on profits, even though sales and demand remains high. The Original Sleep Company believed that developing a direct to customer multi-channel ecommerce business would allow them to plug the gap in contributions and grow the business quickly and profitably. Their aim was to compete with the growing online market, while also attaining large distribution contracts and serving the hospitality market directly using a quality and well targeted web presence.

Regenerate’s Role

The client contacted the Lancashire Innovation Network for advice and guidance on web development and digital marketing issues on recommendation from Burnley Borough Council’s business development team. The innovation advisor assisted the management team to develop a requirements specification and source a quality web site development agency.  The project required a fully content managed web site with a flexible product catalogue, multiple pricing capability, shopping basket, check out and payment gateway. The system must also provide updated information to the existing Sage Line 50 system.

Impact

The project incorporated integration with Amazon and E-Bay market places. This assisted with fast access to both international and domestic markets which would normally take several months of marketing to reach by conventional search marketing and helped the business to access the business to consumer market very quickly. The business is expecting sales to increase quickly in the first year.
